I have not posted in a while and my how time has flown by. Before jumping back in I'll give an update. I'm still taking Humira weekly though I'm sad to say I don't know how much it's helped. I've only been able to get my prednisone dosage down to 3 mgs daily and I feel like I'll never be weaned off of it. Though as we all do with rheumatoid arthritis and other similar chronic illnesses, I manage. I've been very busy taking graduate classes in the evenings, the older kids have more going on than ever and the twins are walking and talking, a lot of fun but exhausting all the time!
I've had another health issue stemming from an abnormal pap, leading to a colposcopy and then a LEEP procedure a few weeks ago. I find out the results of that this coming week. On top of that I had some really bad stomach illness last week which had me nearly incapacitated for a couple days. Combined with the stress of the end of the semester with one exam, one presentation and two papers - led me right into a big RA flare. It was too much and I began to feel I was falling apart but as usual, I keep waking up all in one piece. So I keep plugging on....

Glad you are back. I was thinking about you.
Sorry to hear about your flare. I hope you are doing better.
I was curious about how the Humira was working. It seems counter productive since you are still on the steriods. Will your doctor consider another biologic?
Hi Seeking Solace - today is a better day. I have gone down on the steriods some, I just wish I could get off them faster. If he can get the RA under control with the other drugs then I can it isn't a problem to be off the steriods, I think the pregnancy has just left my RA much worse than it was before making this whole process harder, unfortunately. I haven't talked to him about another biologic, that's a good question.
I was wondering what happened to you!
Glad to have you back. Hope everything gets better!
Glad to see that you're updating again - I look forward to hearing more updates!
Hope all is well.

Hello. I just found your blog. Thanks for sharing your story. My husband has Psoriatic Arthritis. It's good to hear how others cope.
I was able to get off prednisone pretty well until I got down to 3 mg. I was already on enbrel and naproxen (but not methotrexate because I was breast feeding), but every time I tried to reduce further, within a few days there would be a flare in my fingers. I was finally able to do it by going down 0.25 or 0.5 mg per MONTH!! There would be tiny hints of flare, but my doctor was generous with percoset.
And forget school, kids, or the RA--prednisone alone made me a ball of anxiety and stress!
Oh, guess I should introduce myself. I live in NC, and I have 2 kids and an awesome husband. RA started 3 years ago, just after my daughter was born. It's been an adventure, to say the least!
I hope you are doing okay, we haven't heard from you in a while. One thing that I've used that I thought you and your readers might benefit from is the ChiliPad - a mattress pad that lets you cool down (or heat up) your bed, mine lets me set any temperature between 46 and 118 degrees. It's been great for days when the weather and my joints don't agree.
