I have another rheumatology appointment coming up in a few weeks. I can tell my RA isn't doing well enough to start weaning off prednisone. I don't like being on prednisone and it takes such a long time to get off of it, and I can't even start yet. It's depressing.
Most of the time I try not to think about it when I take my medications. I much prefer being on methotrexate and Humira without the prednisone, not only because the worst side effects I have experienced are from prednisone, but also because prednisone is daily and the others are weekly and biweekly. It's easier to forget about the medications when the only thing I take daily are extra folic acid and calcium.
Today I had to think about it. I looked into that bottle full of little white pills and paused. Such an unwanted partner in making me functional every day. Can't be happy with them, can't throw them down the drain. That's prednisone.

hi i have rheumatoid arthritis and have limited mobility, i have been constantly strained with the curiousity of anguish of whether or not i will be able to have children. i am 23 years old, and stumbled upon your website. i dont know what i would be able to do without my enbrel, methotrexate, prednisone, vicodin regimen. i plan to stay on enbrel through conception, and the pregnancy because i heard that many women are having positive results.. but im afraid my ra will kill me if i was off of mtx for three cycles, what is your experience if you dont mind? also im having fears of not being able to hold the baby, my elbows have no movement anymore, and i need a hip replacement on my right side, thats why id ont want to wait excessively to have a child

I changed some of my categories so you can see there are two about pregnancy if you want to read those. The category list is over to the right. Hopefully that helps.
It's not easy but talk to your doctor about having children and what you need to be thinking about now. I think the methotrexate went out of my system slowly and that helped. It wasn't too bad during the first trimester and only got really difficult when I went on bedrest. I wouldn't recommend having twins with RA!
Many women of child bearing age develop RA and most doctors are very good about helping you manage both.
